Jorge Javier Vázquez mocks Madrid Mayor over Sol camp knife claims

Television presenter Jorge Javier Vázquez has used social media to mock Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida following the Mayor's claims regarding weapons at the Puerta del Sol protest camp.

On September 30, the Mayor reported the presence of ‘large-dimension knives’ at the campsite. A subsequent municipal report signed by Deputy Mayor Inmaculada Sanz included a photograph as evidence, which depicted a standard kitchen knife resting among pieces of sliced bread.

Responding on Instagram, Vázquez sarcastically displayed a small household knife, calling it a ‘sword,’ and remarked, ‘For people like Almeida, Chiqui, or myself… everything is big!’, an implicit joke regarding physical stature.

This exchange occurs as regional President Isabel Díaz Ayuso has confirmed plans to seek legal measures to force the eviction of the protesters at the Puerta del Sol site.
