Jorge Luis Borges: Argentina celebrates Reader's Day

Argentina celebrates the Día del Lector (Reader's Day) on August 24, marking the 127th anniversary of the birth of renowned writer Jorge Luis Borges. The date, established by law in 2012, honors Borges's profound impact on universal literature and his lifelong connection to books.

Various cultural and educational institutions across the country are holding events to promote reading. In San Fernando, the Escuela Municipal N°1 Fray Mamerto Esquiú hosted its 3rd Reading Promotion Day, featuring student exhibitions and a theatrical performance by Colegio Privado Rodolfo Senet. Other local celebrations include tributes at the Municipal Library in Daireaux and reading workshops in Trlew.

The commemorations also reflect on the intersection of literature and modern technology, discussing how Borges's themes of labyrinths and infinite libraries resonate in the digital age and with artificial intelligence.
