Jorge Luis Borges: Exploring his literary, philosophical, and scientific connections

The literary legacy of Jorge Luis Borges is being examined through the lenses of philosophy and science. Scholarly analysis highlights how Borges's fiction anticipated the work of 20th-century French philosophers, specifically Michel Foucault and Jacques Derrida. His stories regarding infinite libraries and unstable language reflect themes of arbitrary classification and the instability of meaning found in contemporary philosophy.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of his death, the Planetario Galileo Galilei in Palermo will host "El universo de Borges" on Saturday, August 15. This free event will bring together physicists, mathematicians, and writers to explore connections between Borges's work and concepts such as transfinite numbers, non-Euclidean geometry, circular time, and the fourth dimension. Participants include Gastón Giribet, Guillermo Martínez, Alberto Rojo, and Silvia Hopenhay.
