Jorge Álvarez Máynez visits UAQ to discuss political future
Jorge Álvarez Máynez, national coordinator of Movimiento Ciudadano, held a conference titled “Cómo crear el México nuevo” at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ). The event, held in a full auditorium, focused on engaging youth in public affairs and discussing national challenges.
During the visit, Máynez addressed topics such as the arrival of data centers, gender identity laws, and the party's local legislative positions. He also discussed the party's strategy for the 2027 Querétaro gubernatorial election, noting that Movimiento Ciudadano intends to compete without alliances, aiming for a three-way contest against PAN and Morena. He expressed support for a potential candidacy by Laura Ballesteros, though he did not present her as the definitive candidate.
The event saw some student protests, with demonstrators using signs and megaphones to question the presence of political figures on campus and to demand dialogue regarding LGBTIQ+ rights and reproductive rights.
