Jorge Martín aims for Sepang return following wrist fracture

Jorge Martín is working toward a recovery to compete in the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix following a high-speed crash during the MotoGP Sprint race in Australia. The accident, which occurred at 211 km/h, resulted in a non-displaced fracture of his right distal radius.

While initial fears suggested a second fracture in the ulna, a CT scan conducted in Melbourne ruled out further bone damage, meaning surgery is not required. Martín has opted to travel directly to Malaysia rather than returning to Spain to expedite his rehabilitation. His recovery plan includes specialized therapies, such as cryotherapy and magnetotherapy, to manage inflammation and promote bone regeneration. To assist with his participation, Alpinestars is reportedly working on a modified glove to accommodate his bandages.

The injury comes at a critical juncture in the championship. Following the crash, Marc Márquez holds a ten-point lead over Martín in the standings. The cancellation of Sunday’s main race in Australia due to poor weather conditions prevented Márquez from extending this advantage, keeping the title race active heading into the final rounds.
