Pedro Acosta joins Ducati for 2027, to teammate Marc Márquez

Spanish rider Pedro Acosta confirmed a two‑year deal with Ducati for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons, becoming the teammate of nine‑time champion Marc Márquez. The move was announced ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix and follows Acosta’s rapid rise from Moto3 champion in 2021 to a leading Ducati rider.

Márquez, who recently extended his contract with Ducati until 2028, said he is 40 points behind the championship leader and praised the new partnership with Acosta, calling the youngster one of the best on the market.

Meanwhile, Aprilia has signed reigning world champion Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia for 2027, signalling a major reshuffle. Former champion Jorge Martín, now with Aprilia, expressed concerns that the team has lost its direction and highlighted front‑end handling issues that have hampered his recent results.

In addition, MotoGP has banned the front‑wheel holeshot‑system for race starts. Riders are divided on whether the rule will curb first‑corner incidents, with some warning that crashes may still occur despite the restriction.
