Masvidal stated that negotiations are progressing, noting that “the numbers are getting closer and closer and better and better,” suggesting that an announcement could arrive later this year or early next year.

Masvidal expressed a specific interest in facing Leon Edwards to settle a long-standing rivalry that originated from a 2019 backstage altercation in London. While he has not competed in MMA since his loss to Gilbert Burns in April 2023, he indicated he is waiting for the right opponent and financial terms before committing to a fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
