Jorge Medina assumes rectorate of UPAEP

Jorge Medina Delgadillo has assumed the rectorate of the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP) for a three-year term running from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2029.

He succeeds Emilio José Baños Ardavín, who concluded a 13-year tenure. During his leadership, Baños Ardavín oversaw a community of approximately 80,000 members, including 18,000 students, and achieved international accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission. Notable technical milestones under his administration included the launch of the AztechSat-1 nanosatellite in collaboration with NASA and the Gxiba-1 satellite with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

Baños Ardavín will transition to lead the Red Educativa SPES.
