Jorge Octavio Linco's house arrest revoked in Junín femicide case
A judge has revoked the house arrest of Jorge Octavio Linco, who is accused of the femicide of Corina Mabel Mena in Junín de los Andes. The decision follows a request by the Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF), which argued that there is a flight risk and that the previous ruling granting house arrest was unfounded.
The legal proceedings follow a recent decision by an Impeachment Tribunal to annul a previous life sentence against Linco. The tribunal found the original jury verdict contradictory, as it simultaneously declared the accused guilty of homicide and injuries while also stating he was “not guilty due to non-imputability.” Because a verdict cannot be both a conviction and an acquittal, the court ordered a new trial by jury to re-evaluate his responsibility.
