Jorge Pineda artwork donated to MALBA by CPPC
The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) has announced the donation of ‘Al este del Paraíso’ (1995) to the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA). The donation, made by Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, commemorates the 25th anniversary of the museum and honors Dominican cultural manager María Amalia León.
The donated work is a polyptych consisting of four woodcuts on paper, representing a significant early period in the career of the late Dominican artist Jorge Pineda (1961–2023). Pineda was a prominent figure in Dominican visual arts, known for his work in drawing, printmaking, installation, and performance, often addressing themes of identity and social issues.
This contribution aims to strengthen the representation of Caribbean art within MALBA’s collection and foster dialogue between Latin American artistic traditions. The donation also highlights a long-standing relationship of over two decades between the Cisneros Foundation and the Dominican Republic through various educational and artistic support programs.
