Jorge Ramírez Gallego, Deportivo Cali legend, dies at 86

Jorge Enrique Ramírez Gallego, the legendary Colombian footballer known as ‘Gallegol’, has passed away at the age of 86. He died in Cali following recent health complications.

Ramírez Gallego is celebrated as the all-time leading goalscorer for Deportivo Cali, having scored a record 168 goals during his tenure with the club. His career at Deportivo Cali included winning four Colombian league titles in 1965, 1967, 1969, and 1970.

Beyond his club success, he played for Millonarios, winning league titles in 1962 and 1963, and represented the Colombian national team in 14 matches, scoring six goals. He also recorded 10 goals in the Copa Libertadores. DIMAYOR and various football organizations have expressed their condolences, honoring his significant legacy in professional Colombian football.
