Jorge Soto proposes ban on partisan colors for public assets

Chihuahua local deputy Jorge Soto has announced plans to introduce a legislative initiative in September aimed at regulating institutional image. The proposal seeks to prevent governments from using colors associated with political parties on public assets, such as police patrols, urban furniture, and government buildings.

Soto argued that using partisan colors for public goods is an unnecessary expense that provides no utility to citizens. He noted that current practices often involve changing the identity of public property with every change in administration. The legislator intends to establish a permanent institutional identity that remains consistent regardless of which party is in power.

Additionally, Soto addressed the challenges of public procurement, emphasizing the need to prevent regulations from being manipulated to favor private interests. He noted that while Chihuahua has existing controls, legislative efforts must combat attempts by officials to evade the law.
