Jorge Taiana testifies on LeoLabs radar installation in Tierra del Fuego

A Special Investigating Commission of the Tierra del Fuego Legislature has begun hearing testimonies regarding the installation of a LeoLabs radar in Tolhuin. Former Minister of Defense Jorge Taiana testified that he only learned of the radar's existence in June 2023 through journalistic reports, rather than through official channels.

Taiana alleged an institutional bypass, claiming the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications and Connectivity of the Chief of Staff's Office authorized frequencies without notifying the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He further asserted that the provincial government held the legal competence to dismantle the facility located at the El Relincho estate.

The commission's proceedings in Buenos Aires involve significant logistical costs, estimated at approximately 12 million pesos for travel, lodging, and per diems for the legislators involved.
