Jorginho Mello calls for national pacification in Santa Catarina

Santa Catarina Governor Jorginho Mello released a video statement following the second round of the presidential election, asserting that the electoral dispute has concluded and that he respects the results of the ballot boxes.

Mello’s comments follow a controversial letter released by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, a candidate supported by the Governor, in which the Senator initially referred to himself as the ‘true elected president of Brazil’ before later amending the term to ‘leader.’

In his address, Mello emphasized the need for public institutions to work toward national pacification, stating, ‘It is not time to deepen wounds, but rather to heal them.’ He pledged to prioritize the interests of Santa Catarina while respecting democratic institutions and the final election results.
