Columnist Rodrigo Mattos suggested that Jorginho’s current form may make him the best defensive midfielder for the club since Andrade, noting his exceptional game reading and ball progression.

Former striker Rafael Sobis also lauded the 34-year-old, describing his presence in the Brazilian league as a ‘gift to Brazil’. Sobis highlighted Jorginho’s high-level play following his career in Europe with clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal. Since joining Flamengo in 2025, Jorginho has secured titles including the Brasileirão, Copa Libertadores, and Campeonato Carioca, with his contract running until July 2028.
