Jorgovanka Tabaković: State aid payments will not impact inflation
Jorgovanka Tabaković, Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, stated that upcoming one-time state aid payments from the Share Fund will not impact inflation. Speaking at the presentation of the August 2026 inflation report, she noted that these are single payments rather than recurring costs.
Regarding the logistics of the distribution, the central bank informed the Ministry of Finance that it will provide the necessary cash to banks for these payments without incurring additional costs for the central bank. Tabaković specified that the cash required by banks must be kept separate from standard cash withdrawal requests to avoid processing, storage, and verification costs.
President Aleksandar Vučić previously announced that aid payments for pensioners, ranging from 20,000 to 35,000 dinars, will begin on September 14. Payments for adult citizens, amounting to 6,000 dinars each, are scheduled to start on September 22, with applications opening on September 7.
