Jorhat police arrest fourth suspect in woman's death case

Jorhat police have arrested a fourth individual, Ankit Das, in connection with the death of 18-year-old Anwesha Saikia. The investigation centers on an alleged drug gathering held at a flat in Gauri Enclave on August 15.

Aryan Goswami, identified as a primary accused, was previously arrested after being absconding. During questioning, Goswami denied involvement in the death, claiming Saikia suffered a drug overdose. He stated he attempted to revive her by providing salt after she collapsed. Other arrested individuals have corroborated the claim that Saikia consumed drugs, though they denied using them themselves.

Police are also investigating allegations that Ankit Das supplied the drugs to the deceased. The investigation is currently focused on establishing the exact sequence of events at the residence and determining the nature of the substances involved through an autopsy.
