Jorjia Gillis premieres new play ‘Mum Club’ at Griffin Theatre

Playwright Jorjia Gillis is presenting the world premiere of her new comedy, ‘Mum Club’, for the Griffin Theatre Company. The production stars Stephanie Somerville as Sadie, a Martu woman who moves from Western Australia to Sydney.

Drawing on Gillis’s personal experiences with isolation and postnatal challenges during the COVID-19 lockdowns, the play explores the raw and often lonely aspects of modern motherhood. The story follows Sadie as she joins an exclusive inner-west mothers' club, only to encounter significant maternal judgment and social complexities.
