Jornal da Paraíba celebrates 55 years of media history

Jornal da Paraíba is celebrating 55 years since its first edition was published in Campina Grande on September 5, 1971. Originally established as a weekly publication by 12 local entrepreneurs, the outlet eventually transitioned into a daily newspaper and expanded its coverage across the state of Paraíba.

The publication has undergone significant technological shifts, moving from print to digital platforms. Since 2012, a digitization project has worked to archive over 100,000 pages, using image processing and character recognition to make historical records searchable online. Additionally, the Centro de Documentação da Rede Paraíba (Cedoc) has been working since May 2025 on the Acervo Jornal da Paraíba project to reorganize and preserve the physical printed copies.
