José Amarante discusses finances and coaching at Internacional presidential race

José Amarante, a candidate for the presidency of Sport Club Internacional, has outlined his vision for the club's football operations and financial stability. During recent interviews, Amarante stated he would not rule out retaining current coach Eduardo Baptista through 2027, promising that the professional would be “heard and analyzed” if the team successfully avoids relegation.

Addressing the club's critical financial situation, Amarante highlighted a debt of R$ 600 million, which places Internacional among the most indebted clubs in Brazil. He proposed a management strategy focused on debt consolidation, rigid spending controls, and drastic cuts to stabilize the institution. Amarante emphasized the need for a precise diagnosis of existing debts and immediate negotiations with creditors.

To improve revenue, the candidate suggested revitalizing the club's youth academy to build competitive squads without relying solely on expensive signings. The first round of voting is scheduled for November 9.
