José Andrés donates $1 million to Colombian food businesses after earthquake
Chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen (WCK), has announced a donation of $1 million (approximately 867,900 euros) to support small food businesses affected by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia. The funds will be distributed through the ‘Long Tables Fund’ to identify areas where the capital can have the most immediate impact on food systems and community recovery.
Separately, a spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General announced that the organization is processing an allocation from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). Officials stated that further details regarding the scale of aid and potential appeals for assistance will be released as the full extent of the earthquake damage is assessed.
