José Antonio Kast sets 80% state data interoperability goal

President José Antonio Kast has set a goal to achieve 80% interoperability of state data in the coming years to advance the digitalization of the government. Speaking at the XIV Summit País Digital 2026, Kast emphasized that interoperability will allow public institutions to exchange information, preventing citizens from having to repeatedly submit data that the state already possesses.

Kast identified bureaucracy as a fundamental issue and suggested that artificial intelligence could serve as a powerful tool in combating corruption. He noted that data cross-referencing can detect improperly granted benefits and improve spending efficiency, citing an example where the Comptroller General identified over 25,000 people using medical licenses to travel abroad.

Other government digital advancements mentioned include a National Property platform, a National Migration Service application, and strategic health projects such as digital prescriptions and shared clinical records. Kast also highlighted that 16 million Chileans now hold a 'Clave Única' (Unique Key), which he described as the foundation for future digital identity efforts.
