José Antonio Lucero releases novel on Josefina Manresa and Miguel Hernández

Historian and educator José Antonio Lucero has released the novel ‘Tu risa me hace libre’, which centers on the life of Josefina Manresa. While often remembered merely as the widow or muse of the Spanish poet Miguel Hernández, the book portrays Manresa as a resilient figure who actively protected Hernández’s literary legacy.

Through extensive research, Lucero highlights how Manresa safeguarded the poet's writings against censorship and persecution following his death in prison at age 31. The narrative aims to move beyond the myth to show how Manresa ensured the poet's work survived the threat of historical oblivion.
