José Antonio Morante scores on Real Betis debut
José Antonio Morante, the 19-year-old son of bullfighter Morante de la Puebla, made a dramatic debut for Real Betis in La Liga. Coming on as a substitute in the 92nd minute during a match against Osasuna at La Cartuja, Morante scored just over three minutes into his appearance.
His goal, a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the area, extended Betis's lead to 5-2. Following the goal, the young player celebrated by mimicking bullfighting moves with an invisible cape in tribute to his father.
Morante is a highly regarded prospect in Spanish youth football, having previously won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship and the Golden Boot. He is also considered a rising star for the Spanish U-20 national team.
