José Asunción Flores Plaza faces neglect and safety concerns

Residents near the José Asunción Flores Plaza in Asunción, located at the intersection of Mariscal López and Santa Rosa avenues, have reported severe neglect of the public space. The plaza, which serves as the resting place for the creator of the guarania, is reportedly suffering from a lack of maintenance, accumulated trash, and inadequate lighting due to cable theft.

Local citizens have expressed concerns regarding safety and infrastructure. One resident noted that the area becomes pitch black after 19:00, making it difficult to traverse. Additionally, the bridges crossing the Mburicaó Stream within the plaza have broken planks, posing a significant fall risk to pedestrians.

Neighbors have stated they have repeatedly filed bureaucratic requests with the Municipality to restore lighting and repair the bridges, but have received no response. Residents also reported that the lack of constant security presence allows individuals to occupy the space, discouraging local families from using the park.
