José Braña registers for municipal political coordination in Ciudad Victoria

Federal Deputy José Braña, the nephew of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has officially registered his candidacy for the Municipal Coordination of the Committees for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty in Ciudad Victoria.

Braña, a member of the PVEM, announced his registration following a private meeting with Governor Américo Villarreal. His candidacy comes amid recent allegations from the news outlet Reforma, which suggested he may have orchestrated social media campaigns against political rivals and allies. Braña has denied these accusations of conducting ‘dirty war’ tactics.

The internal process includes several other contenders, such as Rómulo Pérez, the Undersecretary of Legislative Liaison, and Hugo Reséndez, the City Council Secretary. Local deputies Katalyna Méndez and Blanca Anzaldúa have also registered for the process.
