Jos Buttler ruled out of England tour of Pakistan due to injury
England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the upcoming 50-over tri-series in Pakistan due to a hamstring injury. The injury occurred during the second ODI against Sri Lanka at Headingley, where Buttler was forced to retire hurt while batting.
England secured the ODI series 2-1 after a dominant 223-run victory over Sri Lanka at The Oval. In Buttler's absence during the deciding match, Jordan Cox stepped in as wicketkeeper and scored 76 runs, while Tom Banton contributed a century of 126.
Limited-overs coach Brendon McCullum confirmed Buttler will miss the October tour in Pakistan, noting that while it is difficult to judge the recovery timeline, the player is an “ultra professional” working to return as soon as possible. The injury also casts uncertainty on Buttler's availability for England's potential tour of Australia in November.
