San Martín Line train targeted by gunfire in José C. Paz

A new shooting incident targeting a San Martín Line train occurred near Arroyo Pinazo in José C. Paz, Buenos Aires. While the shots did not strike the train, the attack forced Trenes Argentinos to restrict services between Retiro and José C. Paz, preventing trains from reaching Pilar and Cabred to ensure passenger safety.

Trenes Argentinos reported that this event is part of a pattern of violence, noting three similar attacks involving gunfire during August and September that caused material damage. In response, the company has filed criminal complaints for “attempted aggravated homicide and public intimidation” with the National Criminal and Correctional Federal Court No. 1 of San Martín.

The company is seeking urgent security measures and has initiated dialogue with municipal, provincial, and Federal Police authorities to request permanent increased surveillance along the railway tracks, particularly during high-risk hours.

Separately, a commercial revitalization project for the José C. Paz station area has been awarded to the firm Racaval. The project involves constructing a gastronomic venue and a neighborhood market with over 100 stalls to utilize idle railway space.
