José Cícero da Silva charged with femicide after Alagoas family shooting

On 23 June 2024, 58‑year‑old José Cícero da Silva entered the home of his former partner in São Miguel dos Campos, Alagoas, and opened fire. He killed his ex‑partner’s father, pastor José Paulino do Nascimento Filho (68), and later his 28‑year‑old daughter, Raquel Nascimento da Conceição. The mother was also wounded. Raquel was taken to Hospital Geral do Estado (HGE) in Maceió, where she remained for 38 days before dying on 31 July. Police arrested the suspect, seized a pistol and a motorcycle, and he now faces charges of double homicide with the aggravating factor of femicide, attempted femicide and attempted homicide. The investigation is being pursued as a femicide case.
