José de Abreu involved in actor debate and reveals police past
Brazilian actor José de Abreu has become the center of recent discussions regarding both his past career and his current social media commentary.
In a recent social media dispute, Abreu joined a debate involving actors Juliano Cazarré and Eduardo Moscovis. The disagreement stemmed from Cazarré’s comments regarding femicide and male mortality rates. Abreu criticized Cazarré as “reacionário” (reactionary) and questioned the comparison between male death rates and femicide. This followed Moscovis expressing indignation over Cazarré’s previous YouTube interview remarks.
Separately, Abreu revealed details about his professional history prior to his acting career. He served as a clerk and investigator for the Civil Police of São Paulo for approximately four years during the 1960s. He began as a clerk in 1964 and was promoted to investigator in 1966. Abreu left the force in 1968 following a three-month imprisonment related to his participation in a student protest during the military regime.
