José de Abreu threatens legal action over public funds accusation
Brazilian actor José de Abreu announced his intention to take legal action against an internet user following accusations regarding his finances. The dispute began on the social media platform X, where a user questioned if the actor would still enjoy a luxurious lifestyle without the use of “easy public money” at the expense of the population.
In response, Abreu defended his career, citing his 45-year history with the broadcaster Globo, which includes 43 soap operas and 13 series. He challenged the user to prove the claims in court, stating, “Is Globo's money public? Then go prove it in court... Prepare the lawyer.”
Abreu also addressed his financial status, acknowledging that he receives high compensation for his work, claiming he earns one of the highest salaries at the network due to his decades of professional contributions. The actor, who is known for his active presence on social media and political commentary, has expressed support for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
