José Dirceu completes lymphoma treatment with remission

José Dirceu, the 80-year-old former Chief of Staff and current candidate for the Chamber of Deputies in São Paulo, has successfully completed treatment for lymphoma. The disease was diagnosed in May at the Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo.

Medical reports indicate that the treatment, which included six stages of chemotherapy, resulted in the remission of the disease. Following the final stage, doctors have advised Dirceu to avoid large crowds and remain in isolation for the next four weeks to allow his immunity to recover. After this period, he is expected to resume his usual activities.

Dirceu, a member of the Workers' Party (PT), has maintained a digital political campaign since his diagnosis, conducting numerous interviews and live sessions. This election marks his return to the polls after more than two decades.
