José Dumont denied humanitarian house arrest in Rio de Janeiro

The Rio de Janeiro Justice system has denied a request for humanitarian house arrest for actor José Dumont. The 76-year-old is currently serving a sentence of 10 years and four months in a closed regime following a conviction for the rape of a vulnerable person and possession of child pornography.

Dumont's defense argued for the transfer to house arrest based on his advanced age and health conditions, including hypothyroidism, hypertension, and sleep disorders. However, a medical evaluation conducted by the penitentiary administration found the actor to be lucid, oriented, and in a regular state of health. The report concluded that his medical needs can be adequately managed within the prison system, leading the court to reject the request.
