José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones acquire San Diego Padres
José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones have become the first Latino co-owners of a Major League Baseball team following the acquisition of the San Diego Padres. The transaction is valued at approximately $3.9 billion.
Feliciano, a graduate of Princeton and Stanford and former Goldman Sachs employee, is the founder of the investment firm Clearlake Capital. His firm manages a portfolio valued at $90 billion and previously partnered with Todd Boehly to acquire Chelsea FC in the English Premier League. During a press conference, Feliciano expressed a commitment to achieving competitive results with the Padres franchise.
