José Luis de Freitas completes baking course in São Paulo

José Luis de Freitas, a 53-year-old resident of Ribeirão Branco, has completed a free baking course to transition from a career in construction to professional baking. After years of seeking qualification, de Freitas participated in the ‘Caminho da Capacitação’ program, an itinerant initiative by the Fundo Social de São Paulo that provides mobile classrooms to various municipalities.

De Freitas, who previously worked in physically demanding roles in the construction industry, expressed a desire for more humane working conditions and a professional environment that is less physically taxing. During the training, he learned dough preparation techniques and yeast identification. The program recently completed its 20th cycle, offering free courses across 19 municipalities in the Registro and Itapeva administrative regions.
