José Luis Espert spotted at ANSES for retirement procedures

Former Argentine deputy José Luis Espert was recently photographed at an office of the National Social Security Administration (ANSES). Reports suggest he was there to initiate his retirement process.

Espert, who is approaching the age of 65, reportedly has only five years of registered social security contributions. This falls short of the 30 years typically required for an ordinary pension in Argentina. While ANSES provides mechanisms for those who meet the age requirement but lack full contributions, specific details regarding his eligibility or the exact nature of his visit remain unconfirmed by official sources or the economist himself.

This public appearance follows Espert's departure from the Chamber of Deputies in December 2025 and a period of political withdrawal. His recent history includes legal scrutiny regarding a 2020 transfer of US$200,000 from a firm linked to businessman Federico Machado, a case in which Espert maintains the funds were for professional consulting services.
