Bolivian golfer José Luis Montaño, ranked number one in South America in the World Amateur Ranking, reached the round of 64 at the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship 2026. The tournament, organized by the USGA, took place at the Sand Valley Resort in Wisconsin, United States, featuring 264 players.
After completing the first two rounds with a total of 145 strokes (74-71), Montaño qualified for the play-offs to secure a spot in the final 64. Following a ten-hole play-off, he advanced to the match play stage. In the round of 64, Montaño faced American professional and three-time U.S. champion Zach Foushee.
