José Manuel Lara Foundation launches reading project in Huelva

The José Manuel Lara Foundation, in collaboration with the La Caixa Foundation, has launched the ‘Leer Suma’ project for the 2026/2027 academic year in Huelva. The initiative aims to support more than 100 primary school students through personalized reading accompaniment provided by volunteers.

The program serves as a pedagogical response to recent PISA report data, which indicated a decline in reading comprehension levels in Spain and Andalusia. Volunteers will spend one hour per week conducting shared reading sessions with students in school libraries, supported by a coordinator to guide the learning process.
