José María Aznar warns of potential republic if Sánchez wins

Former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar has issued a warning regarding the upcoming general elections scheduled for November 29. Speaking at an event in Seville, Aznar characterized the upcoming vote as the most significant since the beginning of the Spanish transition.

Aznar asserted that if the current governing coalition led by Pedro Sánchez returns to power, it would lead to the dismantling of the existing constitutional system, national unity, and the parliamentary monarchy. He claimed that Sánchez's allies are acting against the Constitution and seeking to transform Spain into a plurinational state, which he argued would ultimately result in the country becoming a republic.

While Aznar's comments have drawn significant media attention, some commentators have noted that the relationship between the current government and the monarchy has not seen a formal challenge to King Felipe VI during Sánchez's tenure, despite past political tensions.
