José María Ruiz receives the 2026 Tomate de Honor

The VIII Feria del Tomate was held in Martín Muñoz de las Posadas, an event dedicated to promoting local Segovian produce and rural gastronomy. The fair served as the fourth stop for the 2026 Segovia Food Caravan, featuring approximately twenty producers linked to the provincial agri-food brand.

During the event, José María Ruiz Benito, founder of Restaurante José María and promoter of Pago de Carraovejas, was awarded the ‘Tomate de Honor 2026’ for his career in Segovian gastronomy and his support for local products.

The fair also included a charitable component, featuring a burger event organized by chef Pepa Muñoz and World Central Kitchen to raise funds for those affected by forest fires. The program included guided tours of the Huerto del Monje and various gastronomic activities in the Plaza Mayor.
