Jos Mitchell resigns as Redlands City Council mayor

Jos Mitchell has resigned from her position as mayor of the Redlands City Council. Mitchell, who was elected in March 2024 as part of the ‘Leading Change’ independent team, faced a divided council where her group held only a minority of four out of 11 seats.

In her resignation statement, Mitchell noted that she had received approximately 70 complaints during her tenure, describing the influx of complaints as a tactic used to politically undermine her. The Redlands City Council, located near Brisbane, has a history of high councillor conduct complaints.
