José Mota debuts as director with Arriba Tutto

Comedian José Mota has transitioned to filmmaking with his directorial debut, Arriba Tutto, a project in which he also serves as screenwriter, producer, and lead actor. Presented at the San Sebastián Festival, the film is a Spanish-Italian co-production that moves away from Mota's traditional television comedy toward a more emotional, dramatic narrative.

Set during the Spanish Civil War, the story follows a man played by Mota who, after being wounded while accidentally wearing a foreign uniform, is mistaken for an Italian soldier. To survive, he must use an invented language he learned as a child. The plot explores themes of redemption and the recovery of faith in humanity, drawing cinematic parallels to classics such as La vita è bella and The Great Dictator.
