José Mourinho denies involvement in Ronaldo-Portugal dispute
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has dismissed reports linking him to the ongoing dispute between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese national team as ‘fake news’. Mourinho used social media to clarify that he has made no comments regarding the situation involving his former player, the Portuguese Football Federation, or national team manager Jorge Jesus.
The controversy follows an incident where Ronaldo, 41, departed the national team camp in Copenhagen after being left as an unused substitute during a 2-1 win against Norway. Manager Jorge Jesus had previously stated that Ronaldo’s status would be based on performance, and later admitted it was a mistake to have the striker warm up if he was not intended to play.
Mourinho emphasized his respect for the federation and the coaching staff, stating he has no intention of intervening in the matter.
