José Roberto Arruda continues campaign after TRE-DF denies candidacy
Former Governor José Roberto Arruda (PSD) continued his campaign activities in the streets this Sunday, despite the Regional Electoral Court of the Federal District (TRE-DF) unanimously denying his candidacy for the Government of the Federal District. The court's decision, based on a request from the Regional Electoral Prosecutor's Office, deemed Arruda ineligible due to previous convictions for administrative improbity.
Arruda's defense maintains that his period of ineligibility has already been served and intends to appeal the decision to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). While acknowledging that the ruling impacts voter intention, Arruda stated he has no “plan B” and remains confident that the decision will be overturned.
During his campaign stops in regions such as Paranoá, Itapoã, and Ceilândia, Arruda proposed various infrastructure and health improvements, including the implementation of a BRT system and the construction of new hospitals. He also criticized current administration policies and expressed his desire for the election to be decided by voters rather than judicial rulings.
