Olympic volleyball coach José Roberto Guimarães has been announced as the new head coach for LOVB LA, a franchise in the League One Volleyball (LOVB) professional league in the United States. The Los Angeles-based team is a newcomer to the league, which was founded by Alexis Ohanian.

Guimarães will maintain his current role as the head coach of the Brazilian women’s national volleyball team, leading them through the cycle for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. His transition to the professional club will follow the South American Championship in Rio de Janeiro in early September.

The LOVB aims to provide a domestic professional platform for top players, reducing the time American athletes spend playing abroad. The Los Angeles roster is expected to include Brazilian player Key Alves.
