José Sarney hospitalized in São Luís for pneumonia treatment
Former Brazilian President José Sarney, 96, is currently hospitalized at UDI Hospital in São Luís, Maranhão, undergoing treatment for pneumonia. According to a medical bulletin released on Tuesday (15), Sarney’s clinical evolution is favorable and his condition is considered stable.
Sarney has been under medical observation since Sunday (13) after experiencing respiratory infection symptoms. He is currently breathing ambient air and receiving intravenous antimicrobials. While a discharge is anticipated in the coming days, it remains subject to further evaluation by the medical team.
Sarney addressed his supporters via social media, expressing optimism and thanking them for the messages of friendship and prayers received during his hospitalization.
