José Vicente Solarat resigns from A Rúa council after 44 years

José Vicente Solarat López has announced his resignation as a councilman in A Rúa, marking the end of a 44-year political career. The decision, which will be formalized during the municipal plenary session on September 7, is attributed to strictly personal reasons. Solarat, who is 70 years old, stated that he wishes to dedicate more time to his family, friends, and personal interests.

Solarat is a veteran figure in local politics, having served multiple terms as the mayor of A Rúa between 1986 and 2009. He was also a founding member and key driver of the political group Rueses Unidos Adiante (RUA). He noted that he had informed Mayor María González Albert of his intention approximately two months ago and emphasized that his departure is not due to disagreements within the government group.
