Jose Aldo suggests Conor McGregor return to lightweight division

Former UFC fighter Jose Aldo suggests that Conor McGregor should consider returning to the lightweight division rather than competing at welterweight. Aldo believes McGregor has the physical frame for the 155-pound limit but emphasizes that the fighter must undergo “dietary re-education” to successfully manage his weight again.

McGregor’s recent return at UFC 329 against Max Holloway took place at welterweight and resulted in a knee injury, specifically a torn ACL and meniscus, which is expected to sideline him until at least summer 2027.

Aldo noted that the current lightweight landscape is in a state of flux, suggesting that a victory against a notable opponent could allow McGregor to contend for the title. Justin Gaethje, the current lightweight champion, has previously expressed interest in facing McGregor before his own retirement.
