Jose Alvarado to play for Puerto Rico in FIBA qualifiers

New York Knicks guard Jose Alvarado is set to represent Team Puerto Rico in upcoming FIBA World Cup Americas Qualifier games. He is scheduled to play against Argentina on August 27 and Uruguay on August 31.

This international stint marks Alvarado’s first meaningful basketball action since his role in the Knicks' 2026 NBA Finals victory and his subsequent three-year, $14.4 million contract extension. While his statistical production is modest, his impact on the team's offensive and defensive ratings during the Finals was noted.

Separately, Alvarado shared insights regarding team culture following the wedding of Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods in Malibu. He identified teammate Josh Hart as the best dancer at the event, which was attended by several other Knicks players including Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby.
