Jose Mourinho excludes Raúl Asencio from Real Madrid plans

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has told 23‑year‑old central defender Raúl Asencio that he is not part of the squad for the 2026/27 season. The decision was communicated directly to the player, and the club, with the involvement of agent Jorge Mendes, will begin searching for a new club for Asencio.

The move comes as Real Madrid prepares for a busy transfer window, having already secured the signing of Jan Diomande from RB Leipzig for over €100 million and competing with Paris Saint‑Germain for the player. Other clubs, including Liverpool and Paris Saint‑Germain, have been linked with Asencio, with reported bids ranging from €90 million to €165 million.
